Troy Jamieson Patton (born September 3, 1985, in Spring, Texas) is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles. Patton attended Tomball High School in Tomball, Texas.

Baseball career

Patton was drafted in the ninth round by the Houston Astros in 2004. In 2007, Patton played in Minor League Baseball for the Corpus Christi Hooks and Round Rock Express. He made his MLB debut with the Houston Astros on August 25, 2007.

Patton was part of a trade package sent by the Astros to the Baltimore Orioles on December 12, 2007, in return for shortstop Miguel Tejada.[1]

Patton spent the 2008 season on the disabled list after suffering a left labrum tear.

In 2010, Patton made his first career apperarance for the Orioles against the Boston Red Sox. He pitched 0.2 innings, giving up no runs, 1 hit, 1 walk, and struck out David Ortiz to end the inning.

He was promoted to MLB in May but only pitched one game. He demoted 2 days later to Triple AAA Norfolk.

Drunk driving incident

On January 24, 2011, Patton was arrested on suspicion of DWI. The report states that he was pulled over after his car ran over a curb and he registered a 0.14 BAC level after a Breathalyzer test. The legal blood-alcohol limit for driving in Texas is 0.08. He was charged with a misdemeanor count of DWI first offense, posted $500 bail and was released, 2Houston reported. A court date is pending.[2]
